TV-Y

Programming rated TV-Y in the United States by the TV Parental Guidelines signifies content that's suitable for all children, but especially recommended for young children aged 6 and under. Shows on channels like Universal Kids (formerly known as Sprout channel), Disney Junior, Nick Jr., Cartoonito and PBS Kids usually receive this rating. It is equivalent to the MPA's soft G rating for movies, and the ESRB's defunct EC rating and current soft E rating for video games.

TV-Y rated programs are actually only permitted to air between 6 AM to 5 PM EST on weekdays and 2 PM EST on weekends on most networks; they are the time limits to when they can air programs with this rating.

The only exception to this rule is if it's a network such as the Nick Jr. Channel or PBS Kids that exclusively airs programs 24/7 with this rating.

Like TV-G, this rating does not use any descriptors.
