French Television Ratings,[14] as advised by Conseil Supérieur de l'Audiovisuel (CSA):

Each of the rating icons are translucent (as of 2002) and, as of November 2012, are shown for the whole duration of the show.[15]

  • If no rating appears, it is most likely appropriate for all ages and equivalent to TV-Y, TV-Y7 and/or TV-G.
  • Déconseillé aux moins de 10 ans (Not recommended for children under 10): Not allowed in children's television series. Equivalent to TV-Y7-FV and/or TV-PG.
  • Déconseillé aux moins de 12 ans (Not recommended for children under 12): This image is shown at the beginning of the programme and after every break. Allowed between 10:00 pm and 10:30 pm (some channels and programs are subject to exception). Equivalent to soft TV-14.
  • Déconseillé aux moins de 16 ans (Not recommended for children under 16): This image is shown at the beginning of the programme and after every break. Allowed between 10:30 pm and midnight (some channels and programs are subject to exception). Equivalent to hard TV-14 and/or soft TV-MA.
  • Déconseillé aux moins de 18 ans (Not recommended for persons under 18): This image is shown at the beginning of the programme and after every break. Allowed between midnight and 5 am and only on some channels. The access to these programmes is locked by a personal password. Equivalent to hard TV-MA.

Programmes that are unsuitable for broadcast anywhere in France are programmes interdits. These programmes are "detrimental to human dignity or inciting delinquent or uncivil behaviour" and prohibited from being broadcast.
